10 Famous Old Churches

Paoay Church

Paoay Church Located in Ilocos Norte, and was included in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or the UNESCO World Heritage list. This church was constructed in 1704 and been completed in the year 1894.

Barasoain Church

Barasoain Church Known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish built in 1630 and located in Malolos City, Bulacan. The church is a Roman Catholic and is also well-known for its architectural design and inner decorations.

San Agustin Church

San Agustin Church of Manila Found inside the Intramuros in Manila, built and completed in the year 1607, the oldest church currently standing in the Islands of the Philippines. It is also selected by the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Under the group “Baroque Churches of the Philippines”. In the year 1976 the Philippine Government proclaimed and named the church as a National Historical Landmark.

San Sebastian Church

San Sebastian Church Located in the Plaza del Carmen at the eastern end of Claro M. Recto Street, Manila. The church was built and it was completed in the year 1891. It is the only all-steel church in Asia. Is a Roman Catholic, the Basilica Minore de San Sebastian or well-known as San Sebastian Church has also been recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Architectural Designs. In the year 1973 the Philippine Government proclaimed and named the church as a National Historical Landmark.

Dauis Church

Dauis Church On the Island of Panglao, Bohol, another beautiful miraculous church of Our Lady of the Assumption known as the Dauis Church. The Church is built in a fusion of style. A Byzantine and Romanesque style of Architectural stylish and an inspiring paintings of Ray Francia in the year 1916.

Quiapo Church

Quiapo Church Located in Manila, Philippines, Quiapo is also prominent for the Black Nazarene or also known as the Quiapo Day and celebrated every January 9th of the year. San Jose Church

San Jose Church Located in Ivana Basco, Batanes. This Old Church was founded way back in the year 1795 and built completely in the year 1814. The church structure was not built in the espadaña style of all the old churches in Batanes. It has a bell tower that can give the entrance of a fortification and fronting to the Ivana Seaport and offer a great view towards to the sea and countryside of the location for its heights of elevation.

Baguio Cathedral

Baguio Cathedral Located at the end to end of Session Road in Baguio City, known as Baguio Cathedral or Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral. One of the good tourist spots in Baguio for it is one of the most photographed buildings in Baguio City and for its reddish colored exterior. Viewing way back at the time this church served as an evacuation center during the World War II from the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

Our Lady of Manaoag

Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine Located in Manaoag, Pangasinan where it is one of the Philippines pilgrimage centers. The church is believed to have a miraculous powers represented by the Holy Virgin Mary. It was said that long time ago the Virgin Mary appeared in this place and from that day on the people built the church on the said place where the miracle happened. The town itself was born from the Virgin’s call, thru the term, “taoag” means “to call” was used to name the town and derived the name of Manaoag means “She Calls”.
